Commitment

The spirit of craftsmanship inherited from our founder

Fujisawa Kogyo was founded in 1964 by Tokio Fujisawa as a welding workshop for vehicle parts. The move into folding chairs laid the foundation for today's office furniture business, and collaborations with partners in Japan and overseas have since widened our range to the medical, welfare and education sectors.

Since our founding, we have made it our principle to deliver joy and inspiration to our customers. We will keep that spirit of craftsmanship alive while developing products that are considerate of the environment.

The value Fujisawa delivers

Production hall with timber processing lines

01

A production network of 13 bases and many partner companies

From our home in Gifu, the Fujisawa group operates offices across Japan and bases in Taiwan, China and Vietnam, working with several hundred cooperating companies. This integrated network makes small-lot production, short lead times and competitive cost possible at the same time.

02

One-stop service from design to delivery

Product planning, design, processing, prototyping, quality control, logistics and sales are handled under one roof. We welcome requests for mass-production prototypes, contract processing and the development of entirely new products.

System

A production management system built for short lead times

Inventory, orders, production schedules, shipping and sales are tracked in real time on the group's core system. On site in Vietnam, our staff manage delivery and quality together with the planning team in Japan, so that every order moves through the floor without waiting.

Quality management

Quality managed to international standards, at every stage.

Strict quality standards govern design, quality and production. Fujisawa Kogyo acquired ISO 9001 certification in Japan in 2000; Fujisawa Vietnam works to the same standards and is currently in the process of obtaining ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

01Design review

Quality is reviewed at the planning, design and prototyping phases — before a single part is cut.

02Material selection

Timber, boards, fabrics and fittings are checked on arrival against the specification of each order.

03In-process inspection

Every stage from machining and sanding to finishing, upholstery and assembly is inspected on the line.

04Shipping inspection

Finished products are checked for function, finish and packing before they leave the factory.

05Claim investigation

Any complaint is investigated by the quality department, corrected at its source, verified, and shared across similar processes.

Durability testing

Tested until we are sure it will last

Strength testing machines and repeated-impact testing machines are used to carry out JIS-compliant tests in house. Where customers specify their own standards, external testing bodies verify the safety of the product as well.

Environment

Environmentally conscious manufacturing

We actively develop products that are kind to the environment — designed to be taken apart, repaired and used for longer, and made with materials and processes that reduce the load on nature.

Long-life design

Parts and upholstery can be replaced, so a product stays in use instead of being discarded.

Separation design

Products come apart easily for recycling, with plastic parts labelled by material.

Reclaimed wood

Rubber trees that no longer yield latex become moulded plywood and particle board for chair cores and table tops.

Low formaldehyde

Plywood and MDF use adhesives that reduce formaldehyde emissions.

Recycled materials

Recycled resin for chair cores and polyester fibre recovered from PET bottles for upholstery.

Cleaner processes

CFC-free urethane foam and solvent-free powder coating whose overspray is recovered and reused.
